About the trainer
Przemysław Reterski runs his own swimming school, RETSWIM, out of the KOSIR pool on ul. Głowackiego in Koszalin. KOSIR is the municipal body that operates the city’s public sports facilities; on signs and timetables the pool is basen, and ul. is short for ulica, street.
He is a qualified swimming instructor and a Class II swimming coach — a rank on the Polish scale of coaching licences — with those qualifications earned at AWFiS in Gdańsk, one of Poland’s universities of physical education and sport (AWF is the usual short form). He also holds a Class I regional referee licence (sędzia okręgowy klasy I), which is what qualifies someone to officiate swimming competitions at regional level here.
Children and adults both train with him. Some have never swum a length in their lives. Others are competitive swimmers who come specifically to have a stroke taken apart and rebuilt. Alongside the regular lessons he organises swimming camps and teaches motorboat helmsman courses.
